Abstract
Orthodontic Solutions: Efficacy & Efficiency
The orthodontic proposals to deal with tooth movements and the solutions offered to each patient have increased exponentially over time. Thanks to research in the sector and to the investments made by the companies that produce orthodontic devices, today many malocclusions can be solved with a careful eye also on the aesthetic aspect of the device. These opportunities represent, especially in the interdisciplinary approach of facial aesthetics, an extra gear to help the patient in the difficult choice of the most appropriate tools, compatibly with the relational aspects that we all normally have in daily life.
The first point to address, after the joint interdisciplinary diagnosis of the various clinicians who will face the therapeutic path with the patient, is to define easily achievable objectives, taking into account both the therapeutic needs and the limitations posed by the patient. Then it will be possible to evaluate and explain to the patient the various orthodontic devices that can be useful for achieving those objectives, explaining in a simple and clear way the pros and cons relating to the efficiency of the device and the level of collaboration required. The final choice can therefore fall on a fixed or removable device, visible or not visible, of a duration that is in relation not only to the ideal objectives, but above all to the achievable ones, in compliance with a correct function. During the presentation, the different orthodontic approaches will be shown with particular attention to the effectiveness and efficiency of each of them in order to understand which are the simplest choices to make in relation to one's own experience and the objectives to be achieved in an interdisciplinary approach, so that all therapists can work easily with the right timing.
